High Point Climbing Gym was an adaptive reuse to the old Bijou Theater in downtown Chattanooga, TN.  Special construction aspects included a new 70 ft facade treatment used for competitive climbing events and a 30 ft deep excavation under the existing parking structure.  Custom steel trusses were used to frame the support structure behind the decorative panels on the exterior wall.  Translucent panels were applied to aluminum frames.  Material testing was completed to verify the material strength was adequate for climbing loading.  Soil nails were installed under the existing slab and building foundations to allow for the 30 ft deep excavation required to install top rope climbing walls on the interior of the gym.
